Privacy Policy
Effective June 9, 2026
ACKtive (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is a private family scheduling app for iOS. This policy explains what information the app processes, where it is stored, and your choices.
Summary
- Your family schedule is stored in your private iCloud account via Apple CloudKit—not on our servers.
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
- The Explore catalog is public read-only content; only items you explicitly add become part of your family plan.
- Sign in with Apple is the only way to create an account.
Information we process
Account & identity
When you sign in with Apple, we receive:
- Your Apple user identifier (a stable, app-specific ID—not your email, unless you choose to share it with Apple)
- Your display name (if you provide one in the app)
This information is associated with your Person record in your family’s shared iCloud zone.
Family content you create
Content you and your co-parent add to ACKtive may include:
- Names and optional phone numbers for family members (children, parents, caregivers)
- Event titles, dates, times, locations, and logistics (drop-off/pick-up assignments)
- What-to-bring lists and shared notes on events
- Activity templates and school calendar preferences
This data is stored in Apple’s CloudKit private/shared database, encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple’s infrastructure. We do not operate a separate backend that stores your family schedule.
Device calendar (optional)
If you grant Calendar access and enable mirror in Settings, ACKtive reads and writes selected events to Apple Calendar on your device through EventKit. This stays on your device and in your iCloud calendar account if you use iCloud Calendar sync. You can revoke Calendar access at any time in iOS Settings → ACKtive → Calendars.
Camera (optional)
If you scan a family invite QR code, the camera is used locally to read the code. ACKtive does not upload scanned images.
Explore catalog
The Explore tab fetches public catalog data (camps, places, community events, school calendar metadata) from our content provider over HTTPS. These requests do not include your family events or personal schedule. When you choose to add a catalog item to your plan, a new event is created locally and synced to your iCloud family share.
Diagnostics
We may receive crash logs and anonymized performance data through Apple’s standard developer diagnostics if you opt in on your device (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements). We do not use third-party analytics SDKs to track in-app behavior.
How we use information
We use the information above solely to:
- Provide the scheduling, logistics, and sharing features of the app
- Sync data between co-parents in a shared family
- Display the Explore catalog and add selected items to your plan
- Send local notifications you configure (reminders for events and logistics)
- Respond to support requests you send us
- Fix bugs and improve reliability
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Data is shared only as follows:
- Co-parents you invite — via Apple’s CloudKit sharing, members of your family share can see shared family data.
- Apple — CloudKit, Sign in with Apple, EventKit, and push notification delivery operate on Apple’s services under Apple’s privacy policy.
- Catalog provider — Explore requests reach our hosted catalog API; no family schedule data is transmitted in those requests.
- Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Data retention
Family data remains in your iCloud account until you or your co-parent delete it or leave the family share. If you delete the app, your iCloud data is not automatically deleted. Support emails are retained only as long as needed to resolve your request.
Children
ACKtive is designed for parents and caregivers to manage family schedules. Children may appear as attendees in a family plan but do not create their own accounts. Parents are responsible for information they enter about their children.
Your choices
- Revoke Calendar or Camera permission in iOS Settings at any time.
- Leave a family share or delete events you no longer need.
- Contact us to request help deleting support correspondence.
Security
We rely on Apple’s CloudKit security model for family data. Explore catalog traffic uses HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong Apple ID and enable two-factor authentication.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
